NCNSM student gets training in Russia
He was involved in applying optical spectroscopy methods to studies of radiation damages. The study involved measurements and analysis of depth-resolved photoluminescence spectra in swift heavy ion bombarded insulators. Particular attention was paid to the investigation of depth profiles of defects and correlated mechanical stresses in some insulating crystals irradiated with (1¸3) MeV/nucleon heavy ions by using the photoluminescence technique. Utilization of ion beams in this energy range offers a unique possibility to simulate fission fragment impact.
